circa 1800, constructed from one piece of lignum vitae, with a 13 1/4in. shaft, the swamped grip section decorated with saw-tooth designs and a concave end (one old loss to grip), the plain shaft increasing in width to meet the 4 1/4in. diameter head carved with vertical ridges interspersed with shorter ridges top and bottom and terminating in a domed end
