A 32-BORE FLINTLOCK OVER AND UNDER SPORTING CARBINE, no visible serial number,
German, circa 1800, with 18 1/4in. blued octagonal sighted turn-over barrels each rifled with seven grooves and respectively signed 'HENRY HOFFER' and 'A ASCHAFFENBOURG', rounded back-action lock signed 'HENRY HOFFER', walnut full stock comprising butt with raised cheek-piece carved in relief with foliage around the barrel-tang and side-fillets along the side of the barrels, sliding wooden patch-box cover, the stock heightened with shaped brass plaques, adjustable set trigger, brass mounts, side-mounted iron ramrod (some scattered minor surface corrosion)..

Other Notes: A gunmaker by the name of Hoffer is recorded in Berlin in 1795
