circa 1864 and smoothbored from the original .54 calibre, with 21in. triple-staged barrel (sights removed and filled), slab-sided receiver with radiused edges (welded repair), the breech-block hinging upwards by swing down on the trigger-guard tang lever, boxlock action with exposed hammer, automatic primer-feed (accessed through the heel-plate), walnut butt-stock, blued furniture including engraved trigger-guard bow and walnut splinter fore-end with no provision for barrel-band, the whole cleaned and re-finished, devoid of markings
