A .31 PERCUSSION ENGRAVED POCKET-PISTOL, MODEL 'COLT'S 1849 POCKET', serial no. 313353,
for 1869, with octagonal 5in. barrel signed 'ADDRESS COL SAML. COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA' within a border, the remainder fully engraved with American scrollwork on a dot-punched background, similar decoration to the open iron frame and the plain cylinder, repeated on the brass grip-straps (also bearing slight traces of silver plate) smooth walnut grip (left hand front corner repaired) and hinged under-barrel loading rod with engraved hinge, all matching numbers but no finish
Other Notes: Whilst of the correct style, it is probable that the engraving was conducted post manufacture by persons unknown.
