circa 1861-62, with 5 3/4in. octagonal barrel, the top flat unsigned, small blade fore-sight, sighting groove to the scroll engraved top-strap, borderline and scroll engraved one-piece iron frame (hinged loading gate missing), plain cylinder with front locking notches, sheath trigger, smooth flared ivory grips, the left with a raised carved bust of an early American frontiersman wearing a feathered cap and with sprung ejector rod stored beneath barrel
