30in. nitro reproved barrels (in 2018) with ventilated mid-rib and 10mm ventilated matt top-rib with intermediate bead, the barrels inlaid at the muzzle with bands of gold, engraved at the breech and muzzle with acanthus scrollwork, the top barrel gold-inlaid JOHN RIGBY & CO. INC.' in gothic script and engraved 'PASO ROBLES, CA, USA' (partially obscured by the fore-end), 3in. chambers, multichokes (with spares), Iberian action, hold-open toplever, manual safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, non-selective single trigger, the action, dipped edge lockplates and furniture profusely engraved with flowing acanthus scrollwork set against a matt background, signed G. Rudolph', the lockplates gold-inlaid with the makers name in gothic script, the underside with the John Rigby logo in gold set against a stippled matt background, the blued triggerguard gold-inlaid with the serial number, bright finish, 14 1/2in. highly-figured pistolgrip stock with palm swell, blued steel engraved pistolgrip cap, including 1in. 'Decelerator' rubber recoil pad, weight 8lb. 13oz., in its 'Americase' transit case marked John Rigby on both the exterior and interior
Other Notes: This gun was previously offered for aucton by Heritage Auctions in Dallas, and was listed as a prototype and the first over and under shotgun ever manufactured by Rigby in 1999.
It was the winner of the John Rigby & Co. award for the finest Rigby firearm displayed at the 3rd Annual Gold Medal Concours d'Elegance of Fine Guns at Rock Springs Ranch, Ca, in April 2002
