AN EXTREMELY FINE .32-40 (REM-HEP) SINGLE-SHOT TARGET-RIFLE, MODEL 'REMINGTON-HEPBURN No.3', serial no. 8587,
circa 1900, with blued half round, half octagonal 30in. barrel, the top-flat signed 'REMINGTON ARMS CO ILION N.Y.', hand adjustable windage tunnel fore-sight, blanked off rear-sight position, plain colour-hardened receiver with opening lever on the right hand side, the left hand side marked 'HEPBURN'S PAT OCT 7th 1879', elevating micro-adjustable ladder peep-sight fitted to the top-tang, chequered walnut semi-pistol grip butt-stock with large carved cheek-piece and fitted with an iron crescent heel-plate and gold oval escutcheon, splinter fore-end with moulded iron fore-end cap and double set triggers, the whole retaining nearly all its original finish and colour (some fading)

Provenance: The Remington Hepburn No. 3 'Target' was supplied in both a standard 'A' grade and a deluxe 'B' grade with chequered high grade wood and special sights as presented here. Less than 1000 rifle across both models and all calibres were produced
