third quarter of the 18th century and possibly cut down from a Long or Short Land Pattern, with 39in. round iron barrel, Tower proofs at breech, block fore-sight, moulded band forwards of the solid top-tang, radiused borderline engraved lock signed 'THOMAS' below the pan, swan-necked cock, borderline engraved frizzen, walnut full-stock, brass furniture including oval escutcheon at wrist numbered '27', solid moulded three-screw sideplate, the front two ramrod pipes with trumpet mouths, three iron barrel keys and iron worm-ended iron ramrod from a 42in. model, complete with a period socket bayonet signed 'DAWES' also numbered '27' (no scabbard, distressed)
