circa 1863, with octagonal 30 1/4in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, baseplate only of rear-sight remaining, the top-flat of barrel signed 'R. RICHARDS & CO LONDON & GT WESTERN GUNWORKS, BIRMINGHAM', forwards hinged faceted breech-block signed on the top 'MONT-STORM'S PATENT', scroll engraved detail, the block released via an engraved lift-up latch to rear, border and scroll engraved bar-action lock signed 'R. RICHARDS & CO', moulded and engraved hammers, figured walnut pistol-grip half-stock (chequered areas smoothed, pinned and repaired at hand), iron furniture, plain trigger and moulded horn fore-end tip, fitted with a later leather sling, external surfaces worn throughout
