A 12-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING-GUN, serial no. 6671,
for 1818 and converted, probably by the maker to percussion from flint, with twist damascus 32in. barrels, raised top-rib signed 'JOHN MANTON & SON, DOVER STREET', bead fore-sight, moulded snails at breech, acanthus and trophy engraved top-tang, bevel-edged engraved stepped tail locks of flint form retaining pan cut-outs and signed 'JOHN MANTON & SON PATENT', dark walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist and with iron furniture, single barrel key and complete with original brass-tipped ebony ramrod, refinished and recoloured in antiquity

Provenance: Gun number 6671 is not recorded in Neal & Back's works 'The Mantons and 'The Manton Supplement' but gun no. 6670 is mentioned and apparently identical bar calibre
