for between 1872-88, with round slightly tapering 8in. barrel, pinched blade fore-sight, sighting notch to the top of the rolling breech, plain frame marked on the left 'REMINGTONS ILION N.Y. U.S.A.' over patent dates to 1866, 'P' and 'S' inspector's initials, guarded trigger, exposed hammer, smooth flared walnut grip with a martial cartouche at heel and walnut splinter fore-end, minimal traces of finish
