A RARE CASED 4.35mm (BB) SIDE-LEVER AIR-POWERED TRAINING KIT FOR A K31 RIFLE, serial no. 1277,
circa 1950, with 14 1/2in. brass barrel, blued air-chamber with integral six-shot magazine with rotating cover, the body of the device marked 'HAMMERLI TRAINER MOD K31', 'PATENT' ('Hammerli Trainer' with traces of gilt infill) and the serial number, side-lever cocking with bakelite toggle in imitation of the rifle bolt together with its blued top-clamp and complete in its maker's pine-board case with paste-board insert, packing label and a special steel target holder with rubber non ricochet mat marked 'HAMMERLI TRAINER', a large selection of 'HAMMERLI TRAINER' paper targets for same and a box of additional Swiss targets, much finish remaining on the training unit, the case unglued and cracked through along lid
