Belgian proved circa 1850, with 9 1/2in. twist iron octagonal barrels, small dove-tailed blade fore-sight, border engraved breech-blocks, standing notch rear-sights to the engraved top-tangs, carved swept snails, borderline engraved flat locks with clipped tails and further scroll engraved detail, engraved fish-mouthed hammers, walnut half-stocks with chequered grips and swollen pommels with shell carved iron cap-traps in the heels and shell carved fore-end tips, single set triggers and spurred guards, white-metal starburst escutcheons to the barrel keys and engraved iron 'angel-wing' sideplates, complete with their original walnut storage case lined in plum velvet in the Continental style and retaining a full suite of accessories in their individual shaped compartments
