A POSSIBLY UNIQUE CASED SET OF DELUXE REVOLVERS, MODELS 'No.4 PRYSE' & 'W.G. ARMY', serial no's. 6996 & 6428,
the first circa 1886 and in .476, with plated 5 1/2in. barrel border engraved at the muzzle and with borderline engraving forming a panel at throat, thumb-wheel cylinder lock, borderline and scroll engraved break-open frame with twin Pryse-bars, fluted cylinder with automatic ejection scroll engraved over each chamber, double action mechanism and fitted with a smooth ivory grip monogrammed 'C.J.L', retaining virtually all its original plated finish, the second circa 1895 in .455, with plated 6in. barrel scroll engraved at the muzzle and throat, borderline and scroll engraved top-strap, quick release cylinder, borderline and scroll engraved break-open frame with stirrup catch, fluted cylinder with automatic ejection scroll engraved over each chamber, double action mechanism and fitted with smooth ivory birdshead grips also monogrammed 'C.J.L', (plated finish frosted and lifted in patches), together with their later leather covered oak storage case compartmented and lined in blue velvet and containing a horn handled turn-screw, an oil bottle, cleaning rod and a tray for ammunition, plated corners to lid and base, the lid initialled 'C.J.L'

Other Notes: From the style of the casing it would appear that these pistols were composed together at the beginning of the 20th century. Unfortunately no owner's records exist. We are gratefully indebted to www.armsreasearch.co.uk for the dating and other information.
