By Virtue of the power and authority to me given by a warrant from His late Majesty King William the Fourth under his Royal Signet and Sign manual bearing date the thirtieth day of November one thousand eight hundred and thirty I the said Arthur Duke of Wellington Do in her Majesty's name by these presents constitute appoint and Commission you the said Rowland Edward Cooper to be Cornet in the Lymington Troop of Yeomanry Cavalry vice the Earl of Cavan resigned but not to take Rank in the Army except during the time of the said corps being called out into actual service You are therefore carefully and diligently to discharge the Duty of Cornet by exercising and well disciplining the Soldiers of that troop who are hereby Commanded in Her Majesty's Name to obey you as their Cornet and you are to observe and follow such orders and directions from time to time as you shall receive from Her Majesty or any superior Officer according to the Rules and Discipline of War in pursuance of the trust hereby reposed in you Given under my hand and seal the twentieth day of October in the eleventh year of the reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Queen Defender of the Faith and in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and forty seven', signed Wellington with seal, Front of document: Dated 20th October 1847, Lymington, Troop of Yeomanry, Cavalry, Commission of
