Smith patent barrel locking mechanism, patent no. 3171 of 16th December 1863, use number 432, carved serpentine fences, back action locks with dolphin hammers (one a replacement with cracks and repairs), left firing mechanism at fault, bold acanthus scroll engraving with feathered bordering, heavily polished overall, 14 3/8in. stock including steel buttplate, fore-end with repairs
