A PAIR OF RARE ZULU WAR PERIOD ROLLED BRASS INERT UNFIRED CARTRIDGES FOR THE MARTINI HENRY RIFLE, 1870s, one Mark I and one Mark III, the Mk I was of comprised of a single roll of brass, the Mk III had a double-roll with a small oval 'window' stamped out of the exterior roll to show the existence of the inner roll to allow it to pass inspection (the Mk II cartridge was experimental only and not issued for service), the Mk III also has a pair of Ordnance 'Broad Arrow' marks stamped into the rim of the primer cup, both have had the black powder charge removed and the primer made inert
