A PATTERN 1822/45 INFANTRY OFFICER'S SWORD, circa 1860 with 32 1/4in. single-edged blade fullered and etched to each side with scroll-work and royal cyphers, one side of ricasso with brass proved plug within a sunburst, the other marked 'JOHNSTONE / SACKVILLE St / LONDON / & DAWSON'S / DUBLIN', brass guard with folding inner guard, black fish-skin grip bound with copper wire, together with its damaged black leather scabbard with brass mounts, blade stained with edge-nicks, guard miss-shapen and hinge broken, scabbard stitching perished and scabbard torn into two above chape, 38in. overall
