A 12-BORE PINFIRE DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING GUN SIGNED SPRINGER IN WIEN, serial no. 1003, circa 1855, with twist-steel 29 1/4in. barrels, numbered one of a pair in gold, scroll-engraved Lefaucheux-style swing under-lever action, isolated scroll-engraved locks signed by the maker, chequered straight-hand stock (cracked and repaired above and forwards of left-hand lock, smooth splinter forend, flat-fronted trigger-guard and provision for sling (iron surfaces darkly stained, worn overall)
