A 7.5 X 53 SCHMIDT RUBIN MODEL 1889 STRAIGHT PULL SINGLE SHOT CADET RIFLE, serial no. 1486 for 1898, with 23 in barrel, fitted with a quadrant rear-sight, iron mounted full walnut stock, the trigger-guard with finger grips, and nose-cap with piling bar, the rifle has all matching numbers and is complete with original brown leather sling, in excellent condition with fine stock and most blue to barrel and action
Provenance: The single shot version of the Schmidt-Rubin was intended for issue to cadets for training purposes, they replaced the Vetterli M70 cadet rifle, approx. 8000 were made and this example is one of the early ones
