A GOOD WORLD WAR I PATTERN 1822 NAMED ARTILLERY OFFICER'S ROYAL ARTILLERY SWORD, dated 1915, with 34 in. single-edged nickel-steel blade fullered on both sides, etched both sides with floral design and Royal Artillery and George V cyphers, ricasso with brass 'proved' plug and 'ALKIT Ltd. / CAMBRIDGE / CIRCUS / LONDON / WC2', oned fuller etched with ' Mjr. S. Oats W.R. / 2. 5. 15', steel hilt and guard, black fish-skin grip bound with copper wire, together with its brown leather field scabbard and brown leather sword-knot, plus a smaller nickel-steel dress scabbard which does not fit the blade, 41 1/4 in. overall
