PALL MALL CORNER.' and gold-inlaid '1' at the breech end, the tubes engraved 'WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESSED STEEL' and with acanthus scroll detailing at the breech ends, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, carved leaf fences, toplever gold-inlaid '1', automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, best fine acanthus scroll engraving with floral bouquets, the sideplated with scrolling banners engraved 'F. BEESLEY. PATENT. LONDON.' around a coronet, the underside with 'BEESLEY'S PATENT' in an oval, brushed bright finish, 15 1/2in. figured replacement stock, replacement fore-end wood, weight 6lb. 13oz.
