F. BEESLEY (FROM PURDEY'S) 12-BORE SIDELOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 1344, 28in. nitro replacement barrels the tubes engraved 'NEW BARRELS BY W. RICHARDS. PRESTON AND LIVERPOOL.' and with acanthus scroll detailing at the breech-ends, broad file-cut matt rib, 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/2 and full choke, treble-grip action with carved leaf fences, toplever gold-inlaid '2', automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, acanthus scroll engraving with floral bouquets, the sideplates with scrolling banners engraved 'F. BEESLEY. FROM PURDEY'S. PATENT.', the underside engraved 'BEESLEY'S PATENT.', brushed bright finish, triggerguard gold-inlaid '2', 14in. figured stock including 7/8in. rubber recoil pad (cast on for a left-hander), some damage to fore-end, weight 6lb. 15oz.

Provenance: The vendor has kindly provided us with the following information:

the gun is no. 2 of an original best sidelock ejector pair, the other being 1343, and they were sold to a Mr J H Rushton on the 29th July 1893 for £111.
