A 25-BORE BRASS-BARRELLED FLINTLOCK PISTOL BY NICHOLSON, CIRCA 1790, no visible serial number,
8 3/4in. two stage octagonal to round brass barrel swamped at the muzzle, the top flat engraved 'LONDON', bevelled flat style lock with stepped tail and the makers name 'NICHOLSON' engraved to centre, brass mounted full walnut stock with slab sided grip and rounded pommel, plain brass trigger-guard and pineapple finial, with replacement rod, fore-end with tapering inset repair for 6in. on the left-side, trigger-guard broken where bow joins finial
Provenance: The maker was probably William Nicholson established circa 1780 to 1795 at 45 Cornhill and contractor to the East India Company
