A RARE .577 CAPPING BREECH-LOADING PERCUSSION WILSON'S PATENT CARBINE, serial no. A11940,
conforming to British Patent No. 1318, 28th May 1859, with blued 21in. barrel rifled in three grooves, block and blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight with two additional folding leaves, the top of breech marked 'WILSON'S PATENT', his trade mark and possibly a South African registration number (neatly applied), unusual sliding bolt with butterfly wing chequered hinged pull-piece and side locking cross bolt, plain lock marked 'TOWER 1869' and stamped with a Queen's crown, walnut full-stock with brass furniture except two iron barrel-bands, saddle-bar, jag-ended ramrod and chained nipple protector, much surface stained finish throughout
