A SUBSTANTIAL 7-BORE PERCUSSION FOWLING-PIECE SIGNED H. NOCK, no visible serial number,
circa 1840, with octagonal to sixteen-sided to round laminated 47in. barrel signed on the top-flat in script 'H. NOCK 12 LUDGATE HILL LONDON', bead fore-sight, moulded band at the intersection, engraved top to breech block with further engraved band and inlet for a platinum line (absent), acanthus leaf engraved top-tang, border and acanthus leaf engraved lock signed in matching script 'H. NOCK', engraved hammer, walnut half-stock, the chequering rubbed smooth at wrist, iron furniture including later eyelets for sling and a later alloy brass-tipped ramrod, weight approx. 13lb. 8oz.
