A 12-BORE PERCUSSION SINGLE-BARRELLED SPORTING-GUN, no visible serial number,
circa 1810 and converted from flintlock, with octagonal to sixteen-sided to round browned damascus 30 1/2in. barrel, the top-flat signed in script 'SMITH, PRINCES STREET LONDON' (rubbed), silver fore-sight on a spider ground (worn almost flush), scroll engraved breech-block with white metal plug, acanthus leaf engraved top-tang inhabited by a hare and with shallow sighting groove, border engraved curved bevel-edged lock with dipped tail and signed below the original pan cut-out 'SMITH', the remainder re-engraved (at conversion) with scrolls and a recumbent hunting dog, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, iron furniture including scrolled pistol-grip lower tang, white metal nose-cap and brass mounted ebony ramrod, weight approximately 6 1/4lbs., overall length 46in.
