AN ENGLISH SILVER-HILTED SMALL-SWORD,
unmarked circa 1770, with with triple concave 32in. flat triangular cross-section blade (cleaned), the first third profusely engraved with ribbons and scrollwork, the remainder with narrow central fuller to the broad side, silver oval guard with plain face maker stamped 'IP' (possibly Joseph Preedy), the inner face with carved beaded border repeated on the gadrooned small oval inner guard plate, straight cross-guard with roll-ended quillions and short pas-d-ann, plain 'D' shaped knuckle-bow with swollen centre, silver wire-bound grip-piece and urn pommel with beaded band, no scabbard
