dated for 1831, with brushed bright round 42in. barrel (some mild staining), bayonet lug to top of muzzle, Twin banded fore-end cap with integral fore-sight,, solid top-tang, no provision for rear-sight, flat lock marked 'U.S.' above a crossed arrow and branch above 'E. WHITNEY', the tail of lock with 'NEW HAVEN 1831', ring-necked cock, brass pan, walnut full-stock with iron furniture, two iron barrel-bands secured with the nose-cap by flat-springs and button tipped iron ramrod
